Troubleshooting and Advisory Services

You have a team and a leader you believe in, but something isn't working.

Before you start again, change agencies or add more budget, it is worth getting an experienced outside view of the problem.

Our advisory work supports founders, boards and leadership teams with marketing and growth decisions where the answer is not obvious from inside the business.

This is senior strategic support focused on working out what is actually getting in the way and giving the business a practical route forward.

The kind of problems we work on

  • Marketing is busy but not producing enough quality pipeline
  • The team is capable but priorities, structure or ownership are unclear
  • Sales and marketing are pulling in different directions
  • The proposition or positioning no longer fits the business
  • The business is spread too thinly across markets, products or customer groups
  • A board or investor needs an independent view of marketing capability and performance
  • You are about to make a major marketing hire, restructure or agency change and want to test the decision first

How the work is scoped

Advisory work is built around the problem rather than a standard retainer. It might be a short diagnostic, a set of working sessions, a review for the board, or support through a period of change.

I look at the commercial objective, what the business is currently doing, what the numbers show and where the real constraint appears to be. The recommendation may involve marketing, but I will not force a marketing answer onto a business problem.

What you should get from it

A clear view of what is going wrong, what matters most and what the business should do next. If something needs to stop, be simplified or handed to somebody else, that should be part of the answer.

Common questions

Will you present to the board or investors?

I am happy to present the findings, explain the reasoning and take questions directly from the board or leadership team.

Can this turn into an ongoing engagement?

Yes, if that is useful. Some businesses take the advice and execute it internally. Others ask me to stay involved as a fractional CMO or to help build the team around the plan.

Do you carry out marketing due diligence?

Pre-investment and pre-exit reviews can cover positioning, demand generation, pipeline contribution, team capability, systems and the practical ability of the function to support growth.
